Stuart Oudijn

CANDIDATE FOR President

“A Vote for Stu, is a Vote for YOU”

Hello, my name is Stuart Oudijn, and I am excited to say that I am running for NAITSA President this year! As a first-generation Canadian, an enthusiastic accounting student, as well as having a large amount of experience in student leadership I believe I would bring a unique perspective of both pragmatism and forward-thinking to this role.

Over the past three years, I have become deeply involved with NAITSA and how it works; the first year after the pandemic I served as an Ookscrew (NAITSA’s volunteer team) member, and the two years after that serving as a volunteer coordinator on the Ooks Life Team. Consistently trying to innovate the student life experience and leading various volunteer initiatives.

These roles have not only allowed me to connect with many of you but also given me a unique perspective on how organizational change is made, as well as how it affects all the stakeholders at every level within NAITSA and NAIT.

If I have learned any lessons from my time at NAITSA, it is that, to see the change you must be willing to be the change and that is ultimately why I decided to run for President of NAITSA. I believe my experience equips me with the unique ability to effectively empower and collaborate with the newly elected vice presidents and their goals for the betterment of the student community.

My campaign is founded on advocating on four key pillars:

Justified and Affordable Tuition

    • The cost of tuition should be based on the needs of the student body not on poor management of resources.

Ensuring the Safety of Students

    • Students should feel safe on their campus. Especially given the location of the main campus, services such as “safe walk” should be comparable to those in other institutions.

Improved Mental Health Service Accessibility for Students.

    • A more robust wellness program and increases in insurance coverage regarding mental health (and more comprehensive health and dental) for those who don’t have familial support.

Promoting Inclusivity Across Campus

    • There is a need to empower all the voices of this polytechnic. The synergy between the different programs and the wonderfully different people of NAIT is what makes NAIT essential to Alberta

The most important role of a NAITSA president is to be the voice of the student body, ensuring that NAIT is accountable to you. So, I would love to hear from you! If you have any concerns or ideas that will improve your experience and add value to your time here at NAIT. Don’t hesitate to reach out at my email Oudijnstuart@gmail.com So I can best understand and advocate for your needs.

I am passionate and committed to championing your interests. So, I humbly ask for your support and your vote in this election.

And remember, “A Vote for Stu, is a Vote for You!”
