Lilly Houcher

CANDIDATE FOR President

Hello fellow students!

My name is Lilly Houcher, and I am excited to be running for President in this year’s NAITSA election! I am currently a Business Administration student, and I believe that education is the foundation for making career dreams a reality. Beyond academics, I’m passionate about student advocacy and am committed to being your voice and championing what matters most to YOU.

Recently, I spent over two months in Asia, which deepened my love for learning about new cultures, I appreciate that NAIT is home to students from many different backgrounds. As President, I am committed to ensuring every student feels represented and valued. It is my goal to make things better for all NAIT students, not just for a few.

Before becoming a full-time NAIT student, I worked for five years on a farm outside Edmonton, giving me insight into work in the trades. Currently, I work part-time as an administrative assistant, where I’ve been growing my knowledge of business and fueling my passion for working with people. Balancing work, school, and volunteer activities has taught me time management skills, and I am ready to take on the full workload of the President’s role with dedication and enthusiasm! My unique perspective can accurately reflect the diversity of NAIT students.

As President, my vision is to:

  • Strengthen NAIT’s reputation in the business and trades sectors, ensuring even more employers actively seek NAIT students as top candidates.
  • Prioritize affordable transportation, to ensure all students can commute without financial burden. Currently, the U-pass is $180/semester, and an Arc Card is $100/month. With the U-Pass referendum students have the opportunity to let their voice be heard. I encourage all students to vote! This U-Pass referendum affects all of us.
  • Advocate for affordable and predictable tuition to make education accessible to all.
  • Foster engagement and connection by Executive Council events where you can share your thoughts directly with us.

As your representative, I will use my influence to advocate for the opportunities and resources you deserve. My focus is on what benefits you most!

Every NAIT student has a unique story, and I want to hear yours. If we don’t get a chance to meet in person, please feel free to reach out via email at Lhoucher1@nait.ca. I am here to listen and learn how I can best advocate for you.

Thank you so much for your consideration; your support means a lot to me.

VOTE Lilly for President!
