Bonjour Ooksters!

Your howdy Ashutosh Sharma (Ash) is nominating himself for the post of VP Academic in the Naitsa’s By-elections. Currently I am Business Administration -Accounting student at NAIT. One thing that thrived me about these elections is that I believe that a leader should not only direct but also available to serve for the best interests for the sake of mankind.

I believe that I have the capability to represent and lead students’ voices and their concerns with diligence, loyalty an observance. There is my personal leadership experience that I would like to share with you friends, I have worked as the Head boy in my High school’s Student Council Association for two consecutive years. Being a head boy, I gained a lot of communication, interaction and representation experience.

When I joined NAIT, I had a vision to grow with its well-known diversity and goodwill. If I will be successfully elected as VPA I promise to advocate for:

1. Skill based Practical Training: As we all know that NAIT is well known for its skill trades. So why can’t we get benefit from our own NAIT. I promise that I will advocate in organising monthly skill-based learning workshops for the students like plumbing, carpentry, electricals, basic healthcare and many more as it is the need of the hour, and it doesn’t matter in whichever program you are enrolled in you just need to be a part of NAIT.

Moreover, I make sure that students will be having financial literacy workshops like budgeting, taxation and how to earn money from the stock market so that they can survive and learn some strategies to survive in this challenging economy.

2. Carrer pathways: We all students study to have a better lifestyle and make our near and dear ones proud one day. Its very pivotal to make a spot in this challenging job market. After becoming VPA I assure that students will be having more job search learning opportunities with help from NAIT’S Career Connect.

3. Learning in recreational way: As we all know that sometimes its extremely hard and boring to cope up with academic obstacles during our journey. I will work closely on this matter ensuring mental wellness of learners. Students will be having some recreational ways to learn through activities like real time team quizzes and group competitions.

4. Improving Learning Services: With my findings with students so far students especially new students are facing difficulties in assessing new LMS system i.e. Brightspace and they are facing issues like Academic integrity and Misconduct. I promise to have several informational sessions for all the students regarding these matters and I will try to promote learning services which are available for their assistance.

I am passionate about creating an optimistic learning environment. Your academic rights matter! I promise to be a knowledgeable resource for you and ensure that your voice is heard.
