CANDIDATE FOR President

My name is Alex Downey. I am a 27 year old Computer Engineering Technologist student. I am passionate about empowering my community and helping others to achieve their potential. Every student should be heard. And so, I promise to listen to you and advocate for the interests of NAIT students across all campuses.

In 2019 I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Music. During which I was the Co-Founder and President of the Live Music Club. Over the course of my Presidency we fed over 1600 unhoused individuals in Edmonton at live, self-hosted, music events. Through my Presidency I received an invitation to the European Innovation Academy in Turin, Italy. I spent a month there with mentors learning leadership, teambuilding, and advocating skills. I aim to use this skillset to empower, enrich, and enjoy our community to its maximum potential.
