Hello! My name is Jorgia Moore and I am a fourth-year business student majoring in accounting and an Ook for life. My past few years at NAIT have been incredible. I have loved NAIT from day one and the student experience that comes with it. Today, I am proud to run for VP Internal so I can continue to create and be a part of this amazing atmosphere. I don’t just love numbers, I have a passion for creating experiences for students and want to prioritize helping all students in all programs.

The opportunities I have received on campus have been so surreal, especially my time as an events coordinator with NAITSA’s Campus Activities Board (CAB), which I have proudly done for 2 years now. I organized and worked events, both on campus and virtually for us students, and even led the back-to-school COVID safe drive-in that NAITSA put on in September for students which was a ton of fun! We all know COVID has created challenges in our campus experience and it’s been tough, but these events helped spark excitement in our world. I want to ensure we can look back to our school year and have positive memories, not just remember getting through a pandemic.

Despite the challenges we all faced, I broke down barriers to create memorable experiences while staying within the restrictions, which isn’t always easy. I truly believe it’s so important to have social interactions, memories, and something to look forward to while keeping each other safe. Being innovative led me to be the co-founder of Flix for Hope at the on-set of lockdown. It was the FIRST socially-distanced drive-in movie that not only raised over $12,000 for the University Hospital but gave the community something to do and hope during those uncertain times. This brought the opportunity for me to lead the volunteers for the sold-out Brett Kissel drive-in concerts, which brought so many people together to enjoy the beauty of live music. These taught me the changes and importance of these events and now I want to take what I learned from these experiences to my NAIT community, which is the most important community to me.

Partnership is a big part of creating successful experiences and I have amazing past partnerships with companies like Hudson’s Canada Pub, Budweiser, Molson Canadian, and The Pint for events that I will bring to my campus work. I want to be able to continue to foster this experience and think of new ways to create a positive student experience, as being a NAIT student stretches far beyond the classroom –whether it is virtual or in-person. I will put you, the students, first and speak for you to ensure you have a fun and memorable year at NAIT. I promise to stick up for your concerns, your mental health, and your well-being throughout my term and ensure you know and appreciate where your NAITSA fees are going. Vote Jorgia for your VP Internal!
